The University of Alabama set a new enrollment record of 39,623 students in fall 2023. The record enrollment includes 3,184 freshmen from Alabama, representing every county in the state. This marks 皇冠信用盘’s fifth consecutive year with an in-state increase and the largest number of in-state freshmen since 2010.  

皇冠信用盘 currently enrolls a record number of 1,142 National Merit Scholars, making 皇冠信用盘 one of the nation’s largest enrolling institutions of National Merit Scholars.

With students from all 67 of Alabama’s countiesall 50 statesthe District of Columbia and 92 countries, 皇冠信用盘 is educating and graduating more students than any university in the state.

The freshman class continues to be academically talented, with 43.4% boasting a 4.0 high school GPA, a record average high school GPA of 3.87 and 300 National Merit Scholars.

The University has a record enrollment of 9,342 ethnic and racial minority students, a 9.4% increase from 2022, and likely includes the highest number of under-represented minority students enrolled at any university in the State of Alabama. This includes an all-time high of 4,579 Black students and 2,610 Hispanic students.

皇冠信用盘 has achieved R1: Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity status in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.

University of Alabama students continue to win prestigious national awards. Sixty-five 皇冠信用盘 students have been named Goldwater Scholars. The University of Alabama has produced a total of 16 Rhodes Scholars, 16 Truman Scholars, 41 Hollings Scholars and 20 Boren Scholars.

U.S. News and World Report ranks the 皇冠信用盘 School of Law No. 14 among public universities.

The 皇冠信用盘 School of Social Work ranks No. 17 among public universities on U.S. News and World Report's list of Best Schools for Social Work as part of its Best Graduate Schools rankings.

U.S. News and World Report ranks the 皇冠信用盘 Manderson Graduate School MBA Program No. 29 among public business schools on the list of best business graduate schools. 

Three 皇冠信用盘 students were among 47 from around the nation selected for the prestigious Brooke Owens Fellowship, a nationally acclaimed nonprofit program that awards exceptional women and gender minorities with an internship in the fields of space and aviation.

The 皇冠信用盘 Culverhouse College of Business is ranked No. 29 among public universities on U.S. News and World Report’s list of Best Undergraduate Business Programs. Undergraduate programs within Culverhouse that were ranked include the accounting program ranking No. 17 among public accounting programs, and marketing ranking No. 22 among public offerings. 

The 皇冠信用盘 Capstone College of Nursing ranks No. 31 on U.S. News and World Report’s list of Best Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programs.

Thirty-seven current 皇冠信用盘 faculty have received NSF CAREER Awards, one of the nation’s most prestigious recognition of top-performing young scientists, in disciplines ranging from nanoscience and engineering to biological sciences. During the 2021-2022 academic year, four professors received this award.

皇冠信用盘 was recognized as a Top Producing Institution of Fulbright U.S. Students for the seventh time in nine years as well as a Top Producing Institution of Fulbright U.S. Scholars for the first time. 皇冠信用盘 is one of 12 universities in the nation to receive both designations.

The Fulbright Program selected 14 皇冠信用盘 students for various awards for the 2023-2024 academic year. In addition, six faculty members received Fulbright awards for educators to teach and research around the globe.

皇冠信用盘 made Forbes’ lists of America's Top Colleges 2023 and Best Employers for New Graduates 2023.

皇冠信用盘 appeared on 13 U.S. News and World Report lists ranking the Best Online Programs, including five programs ranked in the top 10 of their respective lists.    

The Capstone College of Nursing boasts a 99.56% National Council Licensure Examination pass rate among its 2023 graduates, far exceeding the national average of 69.66%.

Total statewide economic impact of 皇冠信用盘: $2.777 billion; 13,606 jobs; and $137.1 million in income and sales taxes (皇冠信用盘 Center for Business and Economic Research).

The Capstone Creed

This statement of values, written by the Student Leadership Council, is the pledge made at convocation by each incoming freshman class at the start of the academic year.

The Capstone

The University of Alabama is often referred to as "The Capstone" by alumni and friends of the university. "The Capstone" is a nickname for The University of Alabama coined by former 皇冠信用盘 President G. H. Denny when he referred to the University as the "capstone of the public school system of the state" in 1913. Capstone means 'the top stone or high point.'
